I will admit, I was very anti-instagram when it first came out. I think it's because the photos from friends that I've seen were of things I thought should be captured with a real camera, not a cellphone. But after attending Phoot Camp and meeting many talented photographers who use Instagram creatively and create beautiful instant art with it, I fell in love with it.
I still approach my instagram photos the way I would a real photo, so it has in no way replaced any of my photography gear. But therein lies the challenge. I shoot my photos with my iPhone 3GS, which has a good camera, but it's still got limitations. That's one of the reasons I love Instagram, because it challenges me to be a stronger photographer by thinking about composition, lighting and what colors will look like after you apply one of their pre-programmed filters. Quite the contrary to becoming a lazy cellphone photographer.
