[wp_caption id="attachment_3" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Self Portrait #888"]When I'm behind the camera, I know what I want and I know how to achieve it. Composition, color and interaction all come naturally for me when directing other. But directing myself? Forget about it!
It's funny how many times I had to take this picture to get one that I was satisfied with. First off, handheld portraits with a heavy DSLR like the Canon Rebel XTi is not easy. Especially if you're trying to reduce your arm length holding the camera so you don't look like Mr. Fantastic with a rubber arm holding it.
Secondly, the flashes are unpredictable when you're in the center of it all. If I was behind the camera it'd be a different story, I can see the arc and throw of each flash. But when I'm in the center of it all. Ugh.
